Sitting Bull College (SBC) is honored and proud to announce a generous one-time gift from philanthropist, Mackenzie Scott.  “This extraordinary gift will empower Sitting Bull College to reach new heights of achievement,” said Tomi Kay Phillips President of Sitting Bull College.  President Phillips added that “We are deeply grateful to Mackenzie Scott for her vision and generosity, which will have a lasting impact not only on our college but our community”.
Sitting Bull College is guided by the seven-generation principle, where decisions are made with consideration for how they will affect descendants seven generations into the future.

Sitting Bull College’s mission is guided by Lakota/Dakota culture, values, and language.  To ensure our future for generations to come, the SBC Board of Trustees and Administration understand the need to grow our current enrollment for the College.  With limited housing on the reservation, a large portion of the funds will be used to construct a larger student dormitory, with a small cafeteria along with a fitness center.  Remaining funds will be directed to SBC’s endowments, specifically scholarships, facilities and to increase the College’s general fund reserves providing for Sitting Bull College to continue to thrive as a center of innovation, learning, and leadership for the Standing Rock Reservation. This contribution represents the largest in the institution’s history.

Sitting Bull College is a Tribal College located on the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota and South Dakota. Sitting Bull College Mission is guided by Lakota/Dakota culture, values, and language, Sitting Bull College is committed to building intellectual capital through academic, career and technical education, and promoting economic and social development. We pursue our Mission by focusing on our students and the communities they live in.  The College is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools to offer Master, bachelor, associate, and certificate programs.  Currently, the College offers three Master’s, ten bachelors, 11 associate, and eight certificate programs.
